It turns out that jeans shouldn't be washed! A statement from Levi's CEO, Charles Berg.

It turns out you shouldn’t wash your jeans – Levi’s CEO Charles Berg admitted that he hasn’t washed his jeans in 10 (!) years.

He claims that this is the only right way to care for your clothes, as washing machines quickly strip jeans of their “unique characteristics” and color.

If you still need to remove dirt and odor, Berg suggests taking a shower in your jeans and washing as usual. Alternatively, you can put your jeans in the freezer for 24 hours (no, this is not a joke).

And if you’re a complete skeptic and still want to wash your jeans, do it no more than once every 10 wears, turning them inside out first. Make sure to wash them in cold water and dry them in the air – “air drying helps preserve the shape, color, and fabric.”
